Mountain Biking VP Report - June 2004

I would like to thank everyone who helped with the very wet White Lightning race and also the racers that came to race, knowing that it was going to be terrible conditions. Special thanks to Steve Beckett who put up his pop-up camper to protect us from the rain Friday night and giving a office for race day.

Carson Beckett is the youngest person that I know of that has completed the Canal Loop with shoes and pedals. Carson has also ridden to the Tunnel Hill bridge and back on platforms and a 16 inch bike. He will smoke that trail next time we go up there with a 20 inch bike, shoes and pedals. I know who I'll be drafting.

The Canal Loop trail now has water bars on the down hill past the D connector. Please be careful when going over these for the first time. They are working great at keeping water off the trail, plus make for some fun too. Thanks for all the help from volunteers, passing bikers and Bill Ryan from the USFS for there help. We will be doing more work like this from now on, to help preserve the trail system.
