President's Column by Steve Beckett

I would like to thank all those that helped with the rescheduled White Lightning Race. The conditions were not ideal, but those that attended appeared to have a lot of fun with the wet conditions. It takes a lot of work to put on a race event and Steve and his family did a great job. Having camped up there with him, and four other boys, I now have a new appreciation for what it takes to make it all happen.

With that newfound education, I’m calling out to the masses for your help. Yes, you may say; here he goes again, asking for volunteers. That’s OK, I’m going to keep on asking and pleading until one time, at just one of our CLUB events, we actually have too many people there. Maybe some folks standing around chit-chatting with the other cyclists, talking to them about where they ride and their club, maybe someone to take pictures or make sure all the food and drinks are in order for those that just busted-a-gut racing.

I would like to challenge the rest of the CRCC members to get out and show support! I realize we have other rides scheduled and that‘s one of the strong points of the club. We have some diversity with all types of cycling and fitness events so there is something for just about everyone to do. But, if you are not on your road bike, out of town, sick in the hospital, locked in jail, doing a family thing, or mowing the lawn…or whatever…sheese…show up to support the event and help out!

Now Steve and I realize why AB was in such a bad mood during these things…he couldn’t do it all! (He’s not here so we can talk about him) Seriously…we have way too many cyclists in our club for so few to show up to help. MTB’r or not, if we want our CLUB to flourish, you better step up and volunteer.

Less than 2 months until ‘Le Tour de Lance’. Of course I’m a Lance fan, Postal or not. I think the team will be awesome this year and that we are all very fortunate to witness what will be a historic, never to be repeated again 6th consecutive victory. Viva La Lance!

Worth repeatin’:
Way to go Marty on the Ride Calendar!
Way to go Torey and Adam on the Website!
Go clean a trail section or a road route!
Get someone new on a bike!

Dream it, plan it, do it...
Steve
