President's Column by Steve Beckett

The Cyclysm has come and gone for another year.
This year’s tour was better than ever. So many

Six---was there ever
any doubt !?

American riders did well in the GC standings. The Blue
Train dominated. History was made. What a great time to
be part the sport of cycling! We’ll be looking forward
to a write up from Gina and Butch from their experience
traveling with the tour. I swear I saw Butch running along
side Lance with nothing but that banner wrapped around
him…did anyone else see that on OLN? I think it may have
been edited out on the replay.

We are updating our e-mail list for club members. As the
directory and website addresses were updated, we are

now trying to get the electronic list to match as well. Obviously if you are reading
this, you get it because you are a paid member. (Or, you are reading it through the
website) If you have some riding friends that are not members, please tell them to get
on the CRCC Train and join up so they do not miss any upcoming club events.
Hot August blues are here…don’t forget to hydrate, and take plenty of salt and electrolyte
tablets if you are riding for very long in this heat. It will help to avoid the
dreaded leg cramps!

School will be starting back this month, take the time to take your kids or your nonbiking
neighbor’s kids out on an adventure before school starts. The NWS is a great
place to ride on both blacktop and MTB trail. Speaking of the MTB trail…has anyone
from CRCC been up to the Canal Loop to maintain it lately? (No, Steve Wilson doesn’t
count). Our club has the canal loop and if you are not sure, contact Steve or myself
to see how you can help, we have the tools! If you are thinking about riding the
N/S trail, it is in great shape. The LBL crews have been working on trimming weeds
from the sides of the trail along the entire trail.

Don’t forget! We need more Ride Leaders for the Ride Calendar to fill the openings!
Contact Marty to add a ride!

Dream it, plan it, do it…
Steve
