Road Biking News by Marty Ryan

All good things must come to an end and my time as CRCC Road VP is over. I really hope
that someone will find in their hearts to take over the job without the need for bribes
and/or promises. Roger ’conned’ me into taking the job by serving Jean’s buttermilk
chicken and my favorite wine. Obviously though, the job isn’t too terribly horrible!! I’ve
done it for three consecutive years and had a great time. You’re in the middle of
everything and in the ’know’.
Please think about it and contact Steve Beckett if you
would like to join either Cheney or Edwards as the next VP. You’re job will be MUCH
easier than theirs.

The winter riding season is rapidly approaching and that simply means you ride if the
weather permits. There are very few diehard winter riders left anymore but you can still
check the Rideline at 441-2357 to see if someone has posted a ride. There are many nice
days throughout the winter that are good for riding but it will just be a short notice king
of thing. **Please also get into the habit of checking crcc.net regularly because we plan
on using that calendar for updates if at all possible. You just can’t plan ahead in the winter,
which is why so many PLAN to migrate to Florida.

Spinning will once again take place in the BikeWorld Annex and you’re
guaranteed a great workout in a controlled environment and the best part is

you can’t get dropped!

I must say I appreciate the feedback I’ve had about my LINK’S offerings. Not that you
have to be the Veep to submit an article but I did send in something each month out of
some weird sense of obligation. Usually I would forget most of what I wanted to remember
to put in. The article about the CRCC being full of great folks and good friends was #1 in
the ratings. Think about it—we get to know each other at our best and our worst with no
pretenses. We get stinky and dirty and have bad hair at the end of the day and we love it
that way!! Best wishes to whoever steps up to the plate! See you at the Annual Dinner.

Marty
