Mountain Biking News
by Judd Meyers |
We have been riding over at Barkley State Resort several weekends
lately. We have been putting in a few easy down hill sections.
They are nothing like Red Bull Rampage and I don't think we will
be making any big hit, mountain bike videos. We are however,
"having fun."
Steve Becket and Steve Wilson went out and RAN
the loop (1-21-6) with our trusty rakes and cleaned out all the wet
leaves in the bad spots. I think they did it just in the knick of
time, with another inch of rain Sunday. 3:45?? worth of above
average H/R. I think anyone wanting a cross-training day should
give this a try.
Spinning has been very slow with all the good weather. There have
been several of us ride at night at least once a week since the New
Year. Everyday that is nice gets us one day closer to spring.
Also there is the new gym in Draffenville "Mega Gym" very nice place.
There are several of us going there and spinning on Mon. nights at 7pm.
Steve Wilson has made several trips to the chiropractor in the recent
months but after starting back to the gym after the New Year, He's like
a new person or his old self. He encourages anyone feeling stale
and just not feeling good about their body to make a few trips to their
local gym.
It looks like the Tater trot and Tour De Tater will be 4-1-06 and then
the White Lightning Mountai8n bike race will be 4-2-06. Anyone
wanting to help with either event can call Wood-N-Wave 270-362-2453 and
Steve will put your name on a list.
Wood-N-Wave
has a new multi-sport team going this year. They have gotten a few
local money sponsors and a few bike sponsors to help out also.
Team W-N-W would like to co-sponsor the WL race with CRCC. This
would help the team raise a few more dollars for the race season.
We have about 45 riders from beginners to pro. These team members
will compete in Road, Mtn, Tri's, century's and marathons. At the
next club meeting a few members will ask if the co-sponsorship is
something we can do to make the race better and distribute the work load
of all the race duties. Steve would hope that this would also
strengthen CRCC membership and bring more of the multi-crowd to the club
for training and competing in these events.
Alan
Brown is getting better all the time and will be on the mountain
bike before long. He has already been spinning the last couple of weeks.
